Volunteering with libraries

Volunteering feels good! Volunteer at your local library:

  • it's rewarding
  • learn new skills
  • meet people
  • contribute to your community
  • make someone's life better.

Volunteer roles

There are a range of volunteer opportunities and you can view a full description for each role below:

Please note:

  • Not all of these opportunities are available at every library.
  • Because of the nature of some roles eg Home Library Service, Code Club, and those on school sites, a DBS check is mandatory.
  • You are legally required to provide documentary evidence (of which you will be advised) to show your right to work and volunteer in the UK.

Training and expenses

We provide the following:

  • Support for volunteers including a welcome pack and appropriate training
  • Expenses for any travel costs
