Tiptree Library Decarbonisation Works

Mon 27/10/2025

Tiptree Library is embracing a greener future!

Starting Tuesday, 21 October 2025, the library will undergo eight weeks of environmentally focused improvement works as part of a wider effort to reduce carbon emissions and improve energy efficiency.

The project includes the installation of solar panels, energy-efficient windows and doors, a refurbished roof, and a modern air handling unit to provide low-carbon heating. These upgrades are designed to make the library more comfortable for visitors while significantly reducing its environmental footprint.

To support the works, the library will remain open but with adjusted opening hours.
•    From Monday 20 October, our new open days will shift to Mondays and Saturdays.
•    Monday opening hours will be 9am–7pm and Saturday opening hours will be 9am-5pm.

Baby and Toddler Rhymetime will now take place on Monday mornings, 10am-10:30am.
Crafternoons will be suspended until the new year and resume when the library is back with full opening hours.

These changes ensure that the community can continue to enjoy library services while the building transitions to a more sustainable future.

This initiative is part of a broader commitment to creating greener, more energy-efficient public spaces that serve both people and the planet.
