Immersive Theatre Project KATHARINE Comes to East Anglia Libraries

An innovative new theatre project exploring the life of Katharine of Aragon is popping up in libraries across Essex and Suffolk this year.

Created by Slaget Theatre and Whispered Tales, KATHARINE blends live performance, text, and immersive binaural sound to tell the story of a queen who “refused to be erased.” The production offers an intimate, contemporary retelling of one of history’s most misrepresented figures.

Library visitors can experience free interactive pop-ups featuring audio installations, creative activities, and exclusive content exploring Katharine’s life, including her passion for books and women’s education.

Selected venues will also host artist talks with writer Nicola Werenowska and producer Matthew Linley, alongside hands-on writing workshops inspired by the project.

Developed in Harwich and supported by Arts Council England, KATHARINE invites audiences to step into history through a powerful and accessible local theatre experience.
