Look under your beds and in your cupboards for all those lost and forgotten library books - because from 1 March to 31 March we’re holding a book amnesty. Return forgotten library books to your local Essex librarymobile library or Thurrock library and you won’t have to pay any late charges. You can also replace lost library cards free of charge too! Visit any Essex library, mobile library or Thurrock library during March to return your items, get a new library card or have any outstanding loan or late charges waived.

It’s not just about books, any library item can be returned as part of the book amnesty.

This is an opportunity for Essex residents to start using their library service again and rediscover how much we have to offer. Libraries are great places to find a good read, support learning and research, and bring communities together. Share a Baby and Toddler Rhymetime, join a book group, enjoy digital resources and much more. March will also see the Essex Book Festival host 20 author events in libraries. Look out as well for STEAM themed events in March and beyond as we celebrate Essex 2020.

So, search behind sofas and rummage through bookshelves and let’s see how many library books we can return this March!
