Embrace the Month!

Even before we have consumed the last chocolate and polished off the last of the turkey curry, we’re thinking about our New Year resolutions.

Ah, January. That cold, bleak month that seems to stretch on forever. as the post-festive glow has faded, we’re left with a dull grey weather outside and the prospect of a long, dark month ahead. But, this is 2025 so we could reframe this: instead of surrendering to the midwinter gloom, why not make it your healthiest, coziest, and most fulfilling month yet?

This January, Essex Libraries are embracing the spirit of Veganuary, Dry January and Red January — so whether you are looking for  benefits of a sober or plant based start to the year or looking to make a difference to other mental health for 2025

We know what you’re thinking: “Reading! What good is a book in helping me stay on the straight and narrow for January.” Once you get into a good book, you’ll find that the harsh winter winds outside only make your blanket fort, cup of herbal tea, and an inspiring novel even more delightful, and you have the added bonus that a library book won't cost you any penny to borrow; another win for the post festive bank balance. Or why not pop in and read  at one of our libraries, with a cuppa during Warm Welcomes.    If you are a home-body, try an online app such as BorrowBox , PressReader or Libby and download to your smart device to read under the duvet
