Harwich Library is now open!

We are thrilled to announce that our doors reopenend on Monday, 22 September 2025.

Highlights of the reopening:

New and improved facilities: Explore our revamped spaces designed for comfort and inspiration.
Special events and workshops: From author talks to craft sessions, there's an activity for every interest.
Exclusive collections: Dive into our expanded range of books, e-books, and multimedia resources.
Co Location with Adult Community Learning: Harwich library is excited to have Adult Community Learning share our space . They offer a wide range of courses for adults to help learn new skills and improve job prospects. IACL has a newly installed mezzanine floor with two classrooms that are equipped with all the latest technology ready to help you fully engage in your personal growth learning journey.
ACL Essex is offering Maths, English ESOL and IT skills, as well an amazing mental health programme and supported learning provision. Alongside your favourite family learning activities, ACL is in the building on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
The Essex Registration Service will continue to operate from within Harwich Library when it reopens. There will be a short closure period but you can book your birth, death and notice of marriage or civil partnership appointment online at Births, ceremonies and deaths.
