Use Your Local Library to Recycle Electricals
Electrical waste is the fastest growing waste stream in the UK, with an estimated 880 million unwanted electrical items sitting unused in homes. Yet only around 57% of these items are currently collected for reuse or recycling.
Select Local libraries are helping to tackle this problem by providing convenient collection bins for small electrical items. These bins make it easy for residents to responsibly recycle everyday items such as old mobile phones, chargers, cables, and small gadgets while visiting the library.
By using library recycling bins, you can help ensure that valuable materials inside electrical items are recovered and reused in new products, from electronics to essential equipment, reducing waste and supporting a more sustainable future.
If you have larger electrical items, these can still be taken to local recycling centres or participating electrical retailers. Residents in Uttlesford, Epping Forest, and Chelmsford can also access kerbside collection services.
Please note: batteries, light bulbs, and vapes should not be placed in library bins and must be recycled separately.
