Dedicated to supporting both local and national charities and operating an all year-round as a charitable gifting website. The organisation also opens Christmas pop-up shops, bringing festive cheer while raising funds for vital causes.
James “Jim” Jackson, then Secretary of the British Diabetic Association began the initiative in 1959 by gathering medical charities and coordinating their efforts to sell Christmas cards to as if funds. Today’s model began in 1964 when the organisation sold cards from vacant shops in town centres. The name “Cards for Good Causes” was proposed in 1971, but it wasn’t until 1988 that it was formally established as the trading arm of the 1959 Group of Charities.
Over the past decade, Cards for Good Causes has expanded its reach and now supports more than 250 charities, whilst contributing over £22 million to the sector.
