Buzz in the City Art Trail Comes to Chelmsford Library!
We're proud to be welcoming a swarm of bees this summer in Chelmsford Library, as part of Farleigh Hospice's Art Trail.
We're so excited to welcome five bees to the library this summer! They've been lovingly decorated by these schools and groups in Chelmsford:
- Parkwood Academy
- Members of Girlguiding Hylands District
- New Hall School
- ECL (Essex Cares Limited)
- Hive Family of Schools (Moulsham Infants, Moulsham Juniors, Writtle Infants, Writtle Juniors, Highwood Primary)
We might be bit biased, but we think they're all incredibly beautiful! Come along and meet the swarm from Saturday 5 July to Tuesday 9 September.
Join us for a special launch event on Saturday 5 July at 12 noon, where the Mayor of Chelmsford will be coming to officially open our section of the trail!
Before this, Farleigh Hospice will be hosting the main launch event on the High Street, where you can meet the artists, learn about bees from local beekeepers, enjoy kids' crafts and activities, and watch the Mayor unveil a giant bee at 10.15am.
What is Buzz in the City?
From 5 July to 9 September, there will be a trail of 30 big bees and 7 mini swarms around the city of Chelmsford, ready to be found by you!
Follow the printed trail map or use the free app to find all of the bees. They've all been decorated by local groups and communities, or sponsored by brands in Chelmsford. As you find each bee, type in their four digit code to learn more about their artist and their host or sponsor, and earn some fantastic rewards and freebies such as discounts, products, and tickets!
Take part in the trail this summer, and come and see our wonderful swarm. We're buzzing to see you!

Bloom and Buzz Events
To celebrate our buzzy visitors, we're hosting some awesome pollinator themed events! Kids will enjoy bee-themed crafts and plant their own plant to be pollinated!
These events are running on Saturday 2 August at Chelmsford, Broomfield, Galleywood, North Melbourne, and Writtle Libraries.
They're free to attend, but spaces must be booked in advance. Find your local Bloom and Buzz and book your space here.
