Early Learning and Fun for Under-5s

 

 

 

Many young children begin school with varying levels of development, and this can affect their ability to learn and grow once they enter the classroom. Ensuring that children are “school-ready” is key to their success and this is particularly important in areas of the County focused on “levelling up.” 

 

One way to help children build the foundational skills they need is by engaging them in early learning activities that support both cognitive and social development.

 

We are delighted to announce that Arty Bookworm our exciting literacy through play sessions in many libraries for 2025

 

 

Designed for children under five. These sessions are aligned with the Early Years Framework and aim to foster early literacy, creativity, and social skills in a fun and engaging environment.

 

Over the course of 8 free sessions, they will focus on a different storybook each week. Through hands-on activities, children will explore key themes and develop important skills, while parents and caregivers can bond with their little ones and connect with other families. The sessions also help reduce social isolation by creating a supportive community space for families to interact.

 

 

Here’s What You Can Expect at Each Arty Bookworms Session:

 

• Story Time: Enjoy a fresh, exciting story every week that sparks children’s imaginations.

 

• Vocabulary Development: Fun, interactive activities designed to expand language skills.

 

• Themed Creative Art Activity: Hands-on crafts and play to deepen understanding and encourage creativity.

 

Each week, families will receive a library book to take home, giving children the chance to revisit the story and continue their learning in a familiar environment. Return the book at the next session to swap it for a new one, creating a regular reading habit and fostering a lifelong love of books.
