Story of the Month – August

To help families develop a love of reading every month we will be sharing a fabulous story video for families to share along with some activity ideas.

This month’s story is from  BookTrust and is 1,2,3,Splosh! by David Mellor.

Watch the video here

You can borrow more books about counting from your local library

Why not try one of these activity ideas:

  • The ducks in the story like swimming what sport do you like to do?
  • There are ten friendly ducks in the story taking different things to the pool draw a picture of what you would take to a swimming pool to have some fun
  • Sing the nursery rhyme ‘5 Little Ducks Went Swimming One Day’
  • Take a walk to the park and see what animals you can see, are there any ducks?
  • The ducks are all a bit nervous about getting into the pool but they manage it in the end by doing it altogether, do you ever get nervous?
  • Doing something new can be scary sometimes but sometimes that new thing can end up being your favourite thing. What new thing have you tried that you really enjoyed?
