Founded in 1832 and holding over 40,000 books from the 14th century to the present day, specialist subjects include:

The Gibson Library and Reading Room is open during normal library opening hours.
The Gibson Library Trust (otherwise known as The Saffron Walden Town Library) is a Charity of which Essex County Council is the Corporate Trustee - Registered Charity no. 310665.
