There are a limited number of public computers available. 

  • Use of the computers is free of charge. 

  • You can book a session in advance or walk-in (subject to availability). 

  • Pre-booked sessions are for a maximum of 60 minutes per day. 

  • After 60 minutes' use of a library computer, you may be able to extend your session (subject to availability). 

  • Cleaning supplies are provided for you to clean your workstation before and after use. 

 

You can book a library computer session online or by ringing the library enquiry line on 0345 603 7628. You will need a permanent library card number to complete your booking. 

 

Printing is available in most libraries. Please check individual library locations for details before booking. 

 

Please note: 

  • Public computers in libraries are powered down automatically 10 minutes before closing time. Please plan your activity accordingly to avoid disappointment. 

 

All library computers have the following Microsoft Office applications: 

  • Word 

  • Excel 

  • PowerPoint 

 

Accessibility 

 

Accessibility software is installed on all of our public computers. You can use the Windows Ease of Access Centre located on the desktop of the computer to enlarge the screen display, change the colour scheme to a high contrast theme or read text out loud. 

 

Using a printer or scanner 

 

You can print from the public computers in many libraries but please check individual library locations for details before booking.  

 

You are welcome to bring in a USB memory stick. 

 

Some libraries have scanners available, please check individual library locations. 

 

Charges 

 

Wireless Internet Access (Wi-Fi) 

 

You can bring your own device to the library and take advantage of the free Wi-Fi. Network details should be up in the library, but if not then please ask a member of staff. 

 

You just need a valid email address to log on. 

 

Use of the library Wi-Fi is subject to our Wi-Fi Acceptable Use Policy. 

 

You can print from a public computer in the library as above, or from your own device (available at selected locations).
