If you joined online in the past year or so and haven’t yet exchanged your temporary library card number for a permanent one, then now is the time to do so.
Whilst temporary card numbers (those starting ELAN or UNREG) can access some services, moving to a permanent number will enable you to access the full range of services including borrowing books from your local library, reserving books, using the range of online resources and much more.
To upgrade your membership just pop into your local library with details of your temporary card number and proof of address.
Important note if you have items on loan/reserved from the BorrowBox
When your new card is set up, the card number will replace the temporary number you are currently using. This means any e-books or e-audiobooks you have on loan on BorrowBox will no longer be available to you. You will need to sign in with your new card number and borrow the items again, subject to their availability.
So, before you request your library card, please make sure you don’t have any loans or reservations you want to keep.
