Essex Libraries, in partnership with the Reading Agency and Society of Chief Librarians have relaunched a scheme to provide expert information and advice for people with common mental health conditions. Called Reading Well for Mental Health, it recommends the best books which support people who live with a range of mental health conditions, and their friends and carers. The newly revamped booklist contains 37 titles covering conditions such as stress, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, bereavement and OCD.

The books have been selected by health professionals and people with mental health needs and are endorsed by national health organisations. View the full list of books on the library website, reserve copies from the Library catalogue, or borrow them direct from the larger libraries.

Essex Libraries will also be working with GPs and support groups, who can prescribe these books for their patients to borrow.
