Children are being asked to read the books and unearth the Beanotown buried treasure in Essex Libraries this summer by taking part in Mischief Makers – this year’s Summer Reading Challenge.
Those aged 10 and over can get creative by joining in with ImagiNation 2018. Both challenges run from Saturday 14 July to Saturday 1 September in all Essex Libraries and mobile libraries.
The Summer Reading Challenge is delivered by libraries and produced by The Reading Agency. It is open to all children, free of charge. In 2018 a partnership with the Beano is giving this year’s challenge a comic twist!
Children just need to read 6 books to earn their Mischief Makers certificate and medal. They’ll be collecting stickers (including some special smelly stickers) along the way which will help them find the buried treasure on their Beanotown map. Watch the Mischief Makers video trailer now.
Children can read any library book of their choice; fiction, non-fiction or picture books and Sensory Story Boxes, which they can share with parents and carers – they all count. The under threes are not forgotten with a special version of Mischief Makers just for them.
Young people who are aged 10 and over are invited to join this year’s ImagiNation challenge where they will help the library to make fantastic book displays by creating artworks or reviews inspired by the books they have read.
