A further 44 libraries across Essex are reopening to customers this week, following the 16 Libraries which have already reopened.
From 20 July a further 8 libraries will open (Fryerns, Kelvedon, Mark Hall, Silver End, Southminster, Thaxted, Vange, Wickham Bishops). Stock Library will open from Saturday 25 July.
Stanway Library will open from 1 August, and Great Wakering and West Clacton libraries in the week commencing 3 August.
Plans are in place for Holland Library to open during August, subject to confirmation. Details for Debden are to be confirmed.
During the closure period library staff have been working hard to introduce social distancing measures to ensure the safety of customers and colleagues as we welcome them back.
We have also recently launched a new exciting mobile app, called Iguana. The new app allows you to search the catalogue, renew items, scan books with an in-app ISBN barcode scanner, and manage your account wherever you are! You can also view library opening times and location information, linking directly to Google Maps to help you find your way. Furthermore, if you manage an account on behalf of someone else, you will also be able to link accounts and access them both from your phone.
Cllr Susan Barker, Essex County Council Cabinet Member for Customer, Corporate, Culture and Communities, said: “I know residents’ value their Library service, and I am delighted that more libraries are now able to reopen safely and welcome customers back once again.
"Thank you to everyone involved who have worked so hard to make this, and the exciting new app, possible."
For more information about specific locations visit our library locations and opening times page and our news article for details about the app, or go to your device app store and search for 'Iguana Library' (available on Android and iOS).
