Make a Noise in Libraries fortnight (or MANIL for short) is an annual campaign by the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) during the first two weeks in June. This year's theme is 'Changing minds, changing times' and runs from Monday 4 June to Sunday 17 June.

MANIL provides an opportunity to bring libraries and blind or partially sighted people together, to celebrate reading and raise awareness of the services available to support those with a visual impairment. Essex Libraries has a range of resources available including audio books on CD and books in large print. We also provide access to e-books and e-audio books which can be downloaded to a mobile, computer or tablet. Full details can be found on the ‘Different ways of reading’ page of our website.

Several libraries hold monthly audio book groups and the charity Essex Sight run regular drop in sessions at libraries across the county, providing support and advice for visually impaired people.

Visit your local library during the MANIL fortnight to find out more.
