Make a Noise in Libraries (MANIL) fortnight, is an annual campaign by the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) during the first two weeks in June. This year's theme is ‘Get connected’.
MANIL provides the perfect opportunity to bring libraries and blind or partially sighted people together, to celebrate reading and raise awareness of the services available to support those with a visual impairment. Essex Libraries has a range of resources available including audio books on CD and books in large print. We also provide access to e-books and e-audio books which can be downloaded to a mobile, computer or tablet. Full details can be found on the ‘Different ways of reading’ page of our website.
RNIB free talking book service also gives access to over 25,000 books for adults and children with a visual impairment to which Library staff can help people sign up to.
Visit your local library during the MANIL fortnight to find out more, or get connected with our online resources.
