Join the RideLondon Challenge

Join in the fun of the RideLondon-Essex Classique cycle races with our cycle challenge. 16 mini cycles funded by Active Essex have been placed within the libraries the 3 London-Essex Bike routes pass through. Our challenge is for our customers to beat the distance the cyclists will race – not individually but together as one big team!

Library members aged 16 or above, can book the mini cycle out for 20 minutes at a time, for use within the library only.  So, while you are sitting, reading or working you can also be pedalling away – with your feet or hands! If you wish to measure your performance you can log your time, distance travelled, and calories burnt. It’s the perfect way to add a little exercise into your day, so why not set yourself a personal challenge as well?

The libraries will log the distance each mini cycle travels. Added together we’ll see which race or races our customers would have completed! We’ll announce the results later.

The RideLondon Classique route goes through:

Stage one Friday 27 May - Baddow, Wickham Bishops, Tiptree and Maldon (137.1K)

Stage two Saturday 28 May - Thaxted and Broomfield (141K)

Stage three Sunday 29 May - Epping, Ongar, Braintree, North Weald, Chelmsford, Great Dunmow, Witham, Loughton, Writtle and Brentwood (85.3K)

In partnership with Essex Pedal Power 4 bikes will also be placed within Clacton and West Clacton Libraries.
