Essex Libraries are celebrating Hi VIS fortnight. It takes place from 7 to 20 June 2021 and aims to highlight accessible reading.
Everyone reads differently. Essex Libraries can help adults or children with a vision or print impairment to access books.
We offer a range of resources and alternative formats. This includes books in large print, giant print or Braille, as well as audio, e-audio or e-books. Customers can apply for an Access card or to join the RNIB free talking-book service. Plus, there are e-library accessible functions, to change how a page or text displays on a device.
There are many ways to improve the reading experience. Explore our Different Ways of Reading and our Children and Young Adults web pages to find out more. Staff at your local library can also help. The Sensory Action Alliance have trained some of our staff to be Sensory Champions. This enables us to better support people who have sight and hearing impairments.
Over the next two weeks we will be posting Hi Vis content on the Essex Libraries Facebook and Twitter pages, @EssexLibraries, using the hashtag #HiVIS2021. Please follow us and like, share or retweet our posts.
