The Essex Book Festival box office is now open! It’s brilliant having a book festival right here on our doorstep, that takes place across the entire county for the whole of March. Coming to an event is a great way of celebrating the joy of books and reading in a welcoming and sociable environment.

We’re delighted there are over 20 events happening in our libraries. We look forward to welcoming, amongst others; Joanna Glen, whose debut novel The Other Half Of Augusta Hope was shortlisted for the Costa First Novel Award; Clare Hunter, whose book The Threads of Life is a must for crafters, sewers and embroiderers, and Jess Kidd, who’s magical book Things in Jars is a mystery set in Victorian London.

Have a look at the fantastic line up of authors and get booking! Or pop into one of our libraries to pick up a brochure.
