On 11 June 2019,  Essex Libraries will be celebrating Empathy Day – the national day marking the importance of empathy in our communities, our homes and our public spaces.

Empathy Day is an initiative developed by Empathy Lab - the first organisation to focus on building empathy through books and stories.  Empathy Lab is calling for everyone on Empathy Day to:

  • Read – because stories and book characters build our real-life empathy
  • Connect – make new connections with people, inspired by sharing stories
  • Do – put empathy into action in homes and communities

“Exciting scientific evidence shows that reading builds our real-life empathy” says Miranda McKearney OBE, Empathy Lab.
