22 September 2020

We’re pleased to let you know that all libraries are now open and most returned to their usual opening hours from Monday 14 September, meaning you can access more of our stock and services beyond 5pm. Check up to date opening times on our website or the library app.

The services on offer are limited but you can return and borrow items, as well as have time to browse the shelves. At times when the library is busy, we may have to limit browsing time to 15 minutes.

There are a limited number of public computers available in most libraries. Sessions last a maximum of 45 minutes to enable cleaning between use. Please book online or by calling 0345 603 7628.

Printing from public computers in many of our libraries is also available. The process is a little different to before, with payment taken through the self-service machines, so please ensure you have the correct change available. Please check individual library pages for details before booking.

Some of the temporary changes we put in place to assist customers during the lockdown and then the phased re-opening of libraries have reverted to normal:

  • The number of items which can be borrowed is 14
  • For any new items borrowed the loan period for books and audio books is three weeks and for DVDs and CDs one week
  • Reservations will be held awaiting collection for 10 days
  • Standard fees and charges now apply

Please remember that in line with government guidance face coverings must be worn at all times when visiting any of our libraries, unless you are exempt from doing so.
