Essex Libraries are looking for more volunteers to help expand their Home Library Service. If you enjoy chatting to people and have a few hours to spare each month you can make a difference to people’s lives, bringing the joy of reading to those who are unable to visit the library.

The service is for anyone who is finding it hard to visit the library because of ill health, disability or caring responsibilities, enabling them to still enjoy all the library has to offer.

Volunteers help by selecting from the library’s excellent choice of books, including large print, audio and e-audio books and DVDs, to match what customers have said they like.

Library customers can also arrange for a special library card which allows them to borrow on behalf of family or friends who are unable to visit the library themselves.

We are particularly looking for volunteers in the Clacton and Braintree areas. For further information on how you can volunteer, please contact your local library, telephone 0345 603 7628 or visit the volunteering with libraries page.
