Come along and meet local poet Maggie Freeman. You’ll experience live poetry readings and get a chance to discuss her poetry, gaining a real insight into the creative process.

Maggie was born in Trinidad, growing up on coconut estates, and moved to England when she was 10 years old – a very different environment and way of living! Her love of telling stories led to initially writing non-fiction, and from her historical research her novels were born: The Girl in the Great House, Daughter of the Sea and The Clock Mender.

Maggie also writes poetry - she says she loves the music of words - and is a member of the Essex group Adamantine, as well as a member of the Society of Authors, the Romantic Novelists’ Association and the Poetry Society. In 2014 she published the collection Singing for Mr Bear.

Free event, no need to book.

This is one of the many Essex Poetry Festival events happening in Essex Libraries this autumn.
